MAGHREB Mount Atlas
2007, a 40K walk to a village in the Mount Atlas region. After walking the whole day without stopping, nearly get bitten by a dog with rabies, we still hadn’t arrived. The last hour was more difficult than the previous 11 or 12 but there was no option, so we continued to walk to the only hotel in the region. In a room decorated with patterned tiles, the owner offered us tagine; cooked onion never tasted so good. When we went to bed, the images of the lonely castles in the desert reappeared in my mind until the moment I fell asleep.
