When the Aztecs first arrived, the city was already over 1,000 years old. Perplexed, they believed Teotihuacan had been created by gods. Much before the Aztecs, over 200 people had been sacrificed to celebrated the completion of the largest pyramid in the Americas. In the sumptuous temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztecs priest foresaw a future of conquests and death.
